Scared and alone.
I cry out,
But the night
Swallows me
From within.
It is stronger
Than me.
I become
One with it.
Accepting the night
Frees me
To look at my soul.

It is difficult to be this honest. Gutsy stuff. I LOVE the last verse. It defies the first two by saying the narrator is in fact stronger than she thought--because she has embraced the night--and that has freed her soul. That makes all the difference. This poem is packed. Linda
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think this is about accepting things you can't change so they don't feel so bad in the night.
